Yes. Starting with Roosevelt, we started to take a more aggressive approach to the international economy and adventures overseas, and it's only caused problems, I think, here and elsewhere. After that, the second Roosevelt had these grandiose international socialist plans, so he produced these farm subsidy programs and joined the war and left the plans for the creation of the UN and CIA, so his wife and their friends (Dulles, Bernays, etc.) and his successor carried these things out. (FDR is almost universally beloved here but he was one of the biggest disasters imaginable; long story.)
