@Djeep The South had already seceded when the war started. The war's a lesson on how feckless the constitution is. Any state actually believing in a voluntary union, tries to secede, the US government will fight them back into the US government's control, then pass a bunch of shit they wouldn't have been able to otherwise. Implying that now is like then is inaccurate, now is much worse. We know that the constitution doesn't do shit against government aggression. They, at least, thought it could.
