    @dannyjpalmer US healthcare and housing costs, tho.

    I also had cause to work out taxes, and people in the lowest bands pay more in taxes than their UK or French counterparts do in both tax abd national insurance.

    I was absolutely shocked by that, because I always assumed the USA was some kind of libertarian tax haven, given their paucity of public services.
