So sure, maybe Meta wants your info too, even though it can’t push you ads here, to sell whatever they scrape (which they’re perfectly capable of doing other ways too). It’s possible, despite the minute size of even Mastodon users to Threads users, even though that seems like a low benefit proposition. But maybe their embrace of the Fedi and AP isn’t to extinguish, and they may want to permanently cover their own asses while offering something for normies and creators that other big names in the space don’t.
