And, yes, we are going to have to make money at some point so you know ads are coming, but we are going to feed you, Threads user, ads that you actually want to see that aren’t going to be intrusive and misleading. But you’re going to like the experience we offer for your content and content consumption and it’s going to be easy and familiar for you while giving you a whole other universe of possible audience.
And that brings me to the unstated reason. What is Meta *not* telling you. Many think it’s that they want Fedi user info…yeah, the ToS language is nice and lawyery, but I’d suggest it’s a different legal reason. Look around at the regulatory community. There is serious concern among regulators with locking in users while purportedly being a “digital town square” (which is a bullshit analogy anyway). What AP offers Meta is not just features to advertise, but a defense to regulatory scrutiny.
