Here's an article (<a href="https://arxiv.org/abs/2204.05149" rel="nofollow noreferrer">https://arxiv.org/abs/2204.05149</a>) that discusses some issues in methodology and goes further to point out that a significant portion of the ecosystem still has hardly been optimized.
