The abuelitas have their own ways of doing things, so they ignore the recipe and make it their own way. And one abuelita will make really good salsa, the next abuelita will make terrible salsa, and the third abuelita will bully the girls using the recipe sheet into doing it HER way instead. So the abuelitas are definitely the source of the wavering quality. They are Mexican Karens.
