Even though I am not Palestinian, I do relate to the Palestinian cause, because my own parents were rather traumatized when they lost the home they built and found themselves cut off from their families and their community. That was when Israel ceased the Golan Heights in 1967.

In his final years, my dad used to view old pictures of his lost home and to plan renovations for it, in case one day the Golan Heights are returned to Syria. That day never came for him.
