I’ve been trying to get the tech world (at least those within it that have a conscience) to understand this about Google, Meta, etc., also but to very little effect.

Instead, I get “but I know some very good people who work there!”

I guess we can’t expect the royal court to turn against the monarchy that gilds it. We must make it socially costly not just for the monarchs but for every court jester that legitimises them.
