Honestly, that doesn't bother me as much as the reverse, where in tech you can be a "senior" with three years of work. I think the problem is with the gatekeeping and the idea that mid-career folks can't lead. No one seems to have a good model for interacting with folks who may be doing good work for 50 years and what the different stages of that life look like.
