i just spent the first 4 hours of my day watching the latest @Hbomberguy video about #plagiarism, it's good and you should obviously watch it.

anyway, here's what's wrong with it:

first, plagiarism is not stealing, it's fraud. thoughts aren't property, and culture would cease the moment we would take that notion too seriously. he even acknowledges that creative endeavors often start highly derivative. arguably still understating the role of imitation in creativity.
