@jessta @lana I mostly agree, but there are exceptions to your last point and we need to take good note. Laws have passed without (government-wrecking) backlash when there have been reasonable alternatives to the thing. For example, support flights have been banned in France, which was fine because there is a decent rail network that you can take instead. But when they tried legislating for a fuel tax? That cost was just put on poor people, and so they revolted.
