Did the teacher seem genuinely annoyed about it?

I can imagine it would be more *challenging* in some ways. A teacher might have to understand linguistics concepts more fully in order to meet a student where they are, for example.

Could they have been acknowledging the challenge rather than complaining about it?

How good is your teacher's English? If they're fairly approachable, could you ask them if there's anything you could do differently as a student, to make things better
