@mametsuko They are called "werfkelders" and were basically just used as storage.
Either so that:
- Merchants didn't need to carry stuff from water level to street level and then down again later (just saving a bunch of effort).
- Merchants could unload shipments into the werfkelder and then carry to street level at their own pace (rather than have the goods stand in the open and easy to be stolen).
