Family members of the kidnapped appealed tearfully to Ben Gvir, at a discussion on the death penalty for terrorists: "Now is not the time"
A representative of the families of the Israelis who were kidnapped stated that it opposes holding a Knesset discussion on the death penalty for terrorists at this time.
"The death penalty is a sensitive issue that should first be discussed in closed professional forums. In any case, imposing the death penalty is possible even today and does not require legislative amendments, [...] Under these circumstances, today's discussion cannot have practical implications. Holding it at this time endangers the lives of our loved ones beyond the existing danger anyway, without promoting any public purpose. Therefore, the decision to hold it is not substantive. We have conveyed our position to the committee chairman, but this did not lead to canceling the discussion."
