I love that the fediverse has a pulse.

I can notice when someone is online, goes on a posting binge, or when I've not seen them in a while.

Sometimes I even spot people delete or edit their posts right after they post them. I can see posts "making the rounds" until I get sick of seeing them.

I can see the patterns underneath -- the weekends, the seasons -- reflected in what people post about. Things speed up, or slow down.

When there's a pause, only the bots keep posting.
