    That has been happening to me in the last 30 min or so, too.
    Not a rare occurence.
    mastodon.social experiences what I'd call "overload" from time to time.
    It mostly happens when a lot of newbies migrate to the instance.
    Just wait it out (30 min - 3 hrs sometimes.)
