It's part of why southern Israelis are so outraged & against Netanyahu. His fascist coalition (at least one, #BenGvir, was actually convicted of supporting Israeli terrorist groups), is a bunch of RW settler fanatics who funneled the military, against advice, up to #WestBank to help settlers in their 2023 campaign of displacement & violence against Palestinians there instead of where they were needed in the south, leaving it undefended on 10/7.
