The plumber is the sort of "open by type of thing" component of Plan 9. Public grid shared plumber, combined with shared grid disk, means that everyone that is connected sees the same files opened at the same time. People get excited about attachments, you tell them you would prefer IRC to Matrix and they say "BUT WHAT ABOUT THE ATTACHMENTS". This is an entire shared UI and filesystem in a nested window manager, with accompanying text chat.
