@eris Hamas is fighting Israel because the dog has turned on its erstwhile master. The smokescreen of Palestinian liberation is one that many Arab countries use. In reality, what kind of liberation is Hamas going to achieve? The Palestinian Authority in the West Bank is essentially collaborative with Israel (going so far as to turn over suspected militants to Israel without any process) and is still a repressive regime where it has full authority. Hamas is much the same. The truth is that true liberation for Palestine is not conducive to the greed and rot in the heart of both Palestinian organisations, and nor the same for the Arab “allies” in the region.
If there is a Palestinian liberation, how will countries like Egypt, Iran, and the rest square that with the fact that their own populations are not free and liberated from their leadership?
