On Last Thursday November 9, a Boeing 747 cargo jet en route from NYC to Belgium flying 31,000 feet had to make an unexpected emergency return to JFK Airport after a horse escaped from its stall. Approximately 10 miles west of Martha's Vineyard in Massachusetts, the plane had to jettison 20 tons of fuel. Throughout the flight back to JFK, the unrestrained horse posed a challenge for the crew. The pilot communicated the incident over radio, stating, "We are a cargo plane with a live animal, a horse, on board. The horse managed to escape its stall, and we need to return to New York. We are unable to secure the horse." Additionally, the pilot requested preparations for a veterinarian upon landing in NYC. The plane successfully landed back at JFK Airport.
