#Abortion is simply a marker for white nationalism. When they were unable to be as upfront with their racism as they wanted to be, they switched to abortion as an issue -- as recently as the mid-1970s evangelicals were fairly indifferent to the subject.

There's no point in Democrats ever bending on this issue; the people for whom it's most important aren't ever going to vote Democratic no matter what, and abortion isn't the reason why.
