something I took away from that podcast is the reason why Joni Mitchell plays guitar using alternate tunings. It's because she has a weak left hand as a result of having polio when she was a child.
I tried having guitar lessons, but gave up because I can't deal with the standard tuning because of my dodgy left hand from having cerebral palsy. So maybe I should play around with alternate tunings more. I like dadgad for a start.
