Tearing one's ACL is a matter of making a mistake or bad training, not genetics. The body adapts to stresses put upon it, and if you take it too fast or mess up bad enough, you'll injure yourself. If it was all genetics, training wouldn't be a factor. Humans are pretty fragile creatures, it only takes something like 8lbs of force applied correctly to break the strongest bone in the body.
