If Eastman were a criminal defendant, statements of this nature would be a sign he's angling for an insanity defense.

As is, this statement calls into question his grasp on reality, and therefore his mental competence to practice law, which under California Rule of Professional Conduct 1.1(b) includes "mental, emotional, and physical ability."
