Yeah: if FSE can't find your key to verify your signature (which it cannot do because it doesn't speak to Tor), then it will ignore messages you send.

There's also signed fetches. Signed fetches will prevent you from fetching messages if the upstream instance can't verify a signature.

Not both ways, at least as far as I know. If I wasn't doing Revolver, I'd probably get Tor and i2p working at least. There's some side-channeling into Revolver but that's not really a hidden service.
