@ami_angelwings I'm thinking of the fan translations for Heartcatch Precure where one of the characters was in love with a girl that she thought was a boy but everyone else was aware this character was a girl

they just didn't even try they just had every character use he/him pronouns up until the reveal because the lines would have to be incredibly contorted to make it work in English
