thank you, yes, and Rome basically stepped into Greek Hegemony ( could compare to how the US took over the role of great britain ) I'm very unclear as to the timeline and geography of the various invasions and rise and falls of the various state formations in ancient and Canaan,, but i think fair to say before Alexander there already some degree of pan-mediteranean greco-semitic common culture, Seafarring people from the coast of Palestine have long set up colonies in North africa and southern europe and traded with or fought greeks, italians etc.
And yeah good point about christianity, there were Jews all over the mediteranean as well as other Semitic people's who had some contact with the Judaic mythos and could also relate historically as colonized people and so figure of Christ as liberator from the Godless Heathens was very appealing, and there were already various proto-christian greco-judaic hybrid sects that became absorbed into Christianity, for example much of gnostic Christianity built upon a tradition of philosophical synthesis between Neo-Platonism and mystical Judaism
