crazy enough, the fediverse is about as old as twitter, but was always this super niche thing for techy nerds. i had an account back when i was at uni like ten years ago, but it wasn't that engaging and i was trying to meet girls so i dropped off. the recent growth has been pretty cool to see, but its a white boy running the recruitment show so the blind spots are kinda glaring.
after hearing my stories about being on the fedi, most of my IRL friends don't want to touch it. even if i was good at recruiting people for websites, i'm not sure i'd be able to sell it if i was being honest about my experiences.
