Armenia ratifying the #RomeStatute [1] is excellent news for humanity (124 states are now party to the #RomeStatute that establishes the #InternationalCriminalCourt) but bad news for Putin, Maria Lvova-Belova, Joseph Kony, Alfred Yekatom, David Sanakoev, Omar al-Bashir, Charles Blé Goudé, Saif al-Islam Gaddafi [2][3] and quite likely Ismail Haniyeh and Benjamin Netanyahu [4].

An arrest warrant is issued where it appears necessary "to ensure the person's appearance at trial, to ensure that the person does not obstruct or endanger the investigation or the court proceedings, or, where applicable, to prevent the person from continuing with the commission of that crime or a related crime which is within the jurisdiction of the Court and which arises out of the same circumstances". The Pre-Trial Chamber issues a summons if it is satisfied that a summons is sufficient to ensure the person's appearance. Overview The ICC has publicly indicted 52 people. Proceedings against 22 are ongoing:...

International Criminal Court investigation in Palestine
The Prosecutor of the International Criminal Court (ICC), Fatou Bensouda, on 20 December 2019 announced an investigation into war crimes allegedly committed in Palestine by Israeli personnel or members of Hamas and other Palestinian armed groups since 13 June 2014. The allegations include the establishing of illegal West Bank settlements and violations of the law of war by personnel of the Israeli Defence Forces during the 2014 Gaza War, including claims of targeting Red Cross installations. Members of armed Palestinian organizations, including Hamas, have been accused of deliberately attacking Israeli civilians and using Palestinians as human shields. Israel is not a member of the ICC and disputes its jurisdiction on the basis that Palestine is not a sovereign state capable of being a party to the Rome Statute, and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has repeatedly condemned the allegations and investigation. Preliminary investigation and question of jurisdiction The jurisdiction of the ICC is limited to the territories and nationals of state parties. Israel signed the Rome Statute on...
