Owning your physical games (and copies) while having lousy data speeds (like where I live) is just one of several reasons why the issue still persists to this day. A digital game code's worthless without a decent connection via Wi-Fi or Ethernet (or mobile data). A Blu-ray disc with the game data already installed seems to be too expensive for game publishers for some reason.
