The differences in the general atmosphere were insane. The kids at the (almost) all white school were still rude & self centered, but they weren't as loud and rowdy. Weird trade off. I imagine shit has changed though especially over the last few decades of handling black people with kid gloves.
I'm sure white teachers are terrified of actually disciplining black kids. And the black teachers who do want to make a difference get disregarded since they aren't helping the status quo of pipelining black children to failure. Because allowing this shit to go on unchecked is setting up a generation for failure in the real world. Or possibly even death. I don't know, I hate this shit, and public school was already pretty bad when I was in it. If I ever have a kid I seriously don't know if I'd be able to put them into the public school system with a good conscious. I don't know how anyone does.
