A similar concept is an expensive 100% wool shirt I have. The idea is you don't wash them as often and you wear it more, yet it lasts longer than other shirts, so you don't have to own very many. I've only been rotating between two shirts for a few months now. More expensive per shirt, but your wardrobe can be really little, and you will waste less and avoid microplastics in the water system.
It feels slightly similar to my e-waste thoughts... evidently it's where my brain is at right now.
