Throw in memeorandum.com as aggregator that covers a variety from Fox, WSJ to DN! but throws in news and headlines that you might miss only visiting a few sites on a regular basis. re: politico: The U.S. site is now owned by Axel Springer and it shows. But it's still a bitt better than the European version.
