Titanfall 1 was a vastly different game than 2, aside from 1 being way faster in every regard and having a cinematic feel to the MP (to make up for the fact that there was no single player, complete with a postgame objective to board a dropship and evacuate with one side either having to blow up the ship/kill the remaining players and the other having to board the ship), there was one major gameplay theme that showed: the game was what the CoD devs had wanted to make for years and never could.
No single player with all the resources going to MP, but also only a few weapons, a few titans/mechs (a light/medium/heavy selection), and most importantly the fast gameplay.
Titanfall 2 slowed the game down, added a bunch of weapon/mech options, and nerfed the mechs on top of that for fragheads.
The same thing went with say Dead Space and Mass Effect, the sequels really feel like they were made for fragheads.
