Evola saying skiing is degenerate because you're going down the mountain, tending towards collapse, rather than ascending it and reaching up toward the sun which is what mountain climbers do. makes me think about the usage of the rolling stone metaphor in rock music and how that music codes for debauchery. even the "rock" from rock music originates from this metaphor, a stone rolling down hill. one of the first things the children do in Lord of the Flies that signifies their departure from civilized behavior is pushing a giant boulder down a cliff, later on in the novel one such boulder kills a main character. Sisyphus is the opposite of this ideal.
