Sometimes events overwhelm us, and it seem like we have no control — but then there’s an input box that says “Type headline here.” We can’t change the events, however much we want to. But we get to choose the headline — for ourselves, for our society, for our collective remembering. •We• choose.

There’s always a moment after an event before its history is written. Don’t forget that choice exists. Don’t forget how powerful it is.
