@mushroom_soup American culture is at such a bizarre state where people are still expected to abide by some level of social decorum but everyone is coalescing into ad-hoc socioeconomic tribes and cheering on the death and misfortune of their rival tribes. Eventually the expectations of decorum will dry up and tribal affiliations will crystallize.
