@jeffcliff @Boomerman @Eiswald @LivingSpaceStudios @YeetLibs @wishgranter14 I don't know how things are done in Canada, but down here in Texas all of the solar/wind farms are built by the kind of sleazy take-the-money-and-run land developers that you're imaging in your head right now, complete with a white cowboy hat and a bolo tie. They'll set up an LLC, get the subsidy, take out loans based on future subsidies and then hoover out all the money while they try to sucker some local power utility into taking over the farm (typically by bribing an executive).

This is big business down in the Rio Grande valley, where you have thousands of acres of solar farms that have long been stripped clean by scavengers that are still on the books of some regional power company with 20-more years expected service life. Nobody cares since everyone gets paid.
