YouTube relies almost entirely on the network effect: they have an audience which attracts creators which attracts the audience.

That's why Google abandoned Google Video and just bought out YouTube.

Passively accepting this network effect is simply handing Google more and more power, and they will do worse and worse things with it.

PeerTube still has a long way to go, but there some nice people on it, I run an account highlighting them at @FediVideo
