This issue hasnt really come up in my context that I know of, but the stuff in the UK is pretty vile.

I agree with you that whether or not a misogynist is a state agent, they are doing the state's work of disrupting movements. I tend to think we should deal with bad behaviour at face value rather than looking for cops, but it is true that a lot of infiltrators like to play the tough guy. The most successful one in my area though was a middle ages white woman who pretended to be fleeing an abusive relationship -- almost the opposite of the Brandon Darby model.
