It’s true that you don’t have to be a genius to be a welder, or a plumber, or an electrician, but there IS a degree of specialized knowledge behind them. The practical aspect could be a few tricks that you could look up, but then there's regulatory compliance, which is where laypeople would probably get in the most trouble doing things for themselves.
