He made one of the most popular text editors in the world, improved and maintained it for decades, and he directed people who wanted to pay him for it to a charity that he was deeply involved in, ICCF Holland (International Child Care Fund). I'm not an expert on doing good and living a good life that leaves the world better than you found it, but if Moolenaar's not an example of it, I don't know who would be.
