i wouldn’t call myself a leftist, because i’m not a huge political activist, and have no intention to get into politics.
i do, however, think Marx was right about most stuff. he was notably wrong on a few things; On the Jewish Question is a low hanging fruit; and more notably, his rather dismissive view of what he called Lumpenproletariat - social outcasts, such as homeless people - as if they are unable to have any complex beliefs simply due to struggling under capitalism, is absolutely bullshit. forming a cult of personality around a guy who died two centuries ago simply isn’t the way to go.
i don’t think some sort of violent revolution is the way to solve things, neither do i think having one party control everything is. power is a force that inherently makes people evil. the goal should be to create structures that spread power as evenly as possible, not to put a new guy at the top.
so, if you really wanted to shove my opinions in a box, i guess you could call me a “democratic socialist” or something like that. but i don’t like playing those games much anymore.
