You're wrong about that, that's precisely what I'm trying to tell you. Greater population doesn't mean more troops, Ukrainians are trying to avoid draft too, but at least the have a clear goal, they have what they are fighting for, Russians would fight for what, to defeat the Nazis they've been told about on TV, protecting Russia's sphere of influence — that's bullshit to most at this point.
