@lnxw48a1 It's certainly stupid, but from what I know of US Corporate law relating to unplublished IP like trade secrets, it may actually have legal teeth. Particularly when you figure judge and lawyers have little, if any, concept of software development. Like rms has said if the current IP laws existed in the 80s not only would GNU not exist, but there is a very good chance the majority of computers wouldn't be significantly better than they where in the 80s. !sns
