Both of those are relatively straightforward and wouldn't require any fundamental changes to Mastodon's model to fix. This might be more controversal:
- Hashtags are just bad. This is why no one uses them.
Hashtags are not a good solution. They deface your post, they stand out MORE than actual content, they use up precious chars, they make you look like an Influencer-brained Twitter user. Over on Cohost we have Tumblr-style tags that are smol & gray & under the post and ppl actually use them.
