@Skoll3 Actually, not from what I've seen. It's still a niche subject so only people who regularly browse specialist tech news would know it exists at all, but the coverage of it has been very clear that "Mastodon" is software, that anybody can run it, and that there are multiple servers. In large part, I think we can thank Pawoo calling itself "Pawoo" and not "mastodon-dot-something" to make that concept stick more firmly.
Also I remember when our dear friend Hiroyuki Nishimura boldly declared that "Mastodon has no future", stating its diffuse nature would make it impossible to attract mainstream users, businesses, and advertising revenue... interesting that he listed positives as negatives, but whatever. I know the only reason he said that is because he knows he can't buy it, backdoor it, and sell everybody out to JGov and the corpos like he did with 2ch.
