Namely the UK had this thing called the Tavistock clinic and they were literally ignoring anyone's mental issues to fast track puberty blockers and hrt with taxpayer dollars funding it all. The end result has been a massive medical scandal involving lawsuits and soon to be a closure of it. A book was even written about it:

And imo the problem goes far deeper than just trans science, the common theme is that science or junk science is a religion now and big pharma wants money.
