@jill You're right to avoid if you don't feel it's for you.
Keep your eyes safe and go with what you're comfortable with. Sometimes opticians will try to show you everything about them and how great they think they are but it's really not worth it if it makes you uncomfortable. 🙈
My brother's eyes are a werid shape so he has to wear glass contacts and it's not fun. I have told him again and again it's okay to have a pair of comfy glasses to wear at home and he can wear the contacts outside but he's the "glasses are for nerds" type of person. He's had an abusive ex break one of them while he was wearing it once too...
I know there's soft ones but they don't make ones like that for his eyes. His ego and pride stands in the way of just wearing some glasses at home, much like people have comfy clothes at home...home is for relaxing and nobody cares that you're wearing glasses! Glasses are not inherantly bad but kids are taught that they are and for some people it sticks.
I think I would have to punch your colleague because it's kind of rude to go into all of those details when it's something that commonly makes people very uncomfortable. 🤦
Let's both try our best to take care of our eyes, nothing needs to touch them, ever. 😱
